Book a Workshop with Madelaine

Movement is medicine. Madelaine offers 6-week sessions for the workshops below. Each session includes 20 minutes of talk and teachings to ground the session and 40 minutes of dance to let it all out through movement.

Due to COVID protocols,  workshops are currently offered online via Zoom (or preferred video conferencing platform).

Pow Wow Impact

Pow Wow Impact is a form of dance that connects you to culture and provides the benefits or a physical workout

In each workshop, you will learn the basics of Pow Wow from the basic crow hop step. In each workshop you will learn 2-3 steps that will be sequenced through choreography. By the last workshop, you will have knowledge of 10 or more Pow Wow steps and you’ll have an opportunity to dance freely and share your own style!

Jig Fit

Jigging is an upbeat, fun, social dance with roots of European and Indigenous dance styles - you won't even realize you're getting a workout!

Participants learn Métis dance steps sequenced through choreography and get fit at the same time! You’ll gain knowledge of dances like The Red Jig, belt dance, broom dance, and orange blossom special. I had the pleasure of working with Madelaine on a series of jigging videos for Métis kids and youth in care. We wanted to reach the largest audience possible to give our kids the opportunity to learn from someone experienced in their culture, and Madelaine delivered in spades! Her instructional videos were easy to follow, and the kids and their caregivers loved seeing her traditional outfits and hearing her stories. She is a delight to work with and a skilled teacher. I highly recommend her and will be looking to work with her again in the future!
